About

Hi!  I’m Jen, and I run the Habitat for Happiness YouTube channel and blog. My content is all about being vegan, reading books and going on adventures.

I went vegetarian on January 4th 2004 and vegan in 2008. It has been an amazing journey.  My primary motivation for going vegan was for ethical reasons – I love animals!  I’ve also been happy to discover all of the health benefits associated with eating plant based and how much better it is for the environment than a traditional animal based diet.  I believe that life is a journey and I consider myself a very loving, non-judgmental vegan.  If you respect me, I will respect you! I love sharing the foods I eat, the products I discover and the recipes I love.

I have always enjoyed reading.  As a child I loved the Animal Arc series by Ben M. Baglio, as a teenager I was (and still am) all about the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling and as a young adult I got stuck reading tons and tons and TONS of textbooks for my 7 years of University.  Now, as an adult in my early 30s, I am exploring more authors and genres.  My current favourite author is Juliet Marillier (I love her Sevenwaters series) and my favourite genre is Fantasy, but I am open to reading almost anything!

As far as adventures go, my husband and I LOVE being outdoors.  We spend most weekends discovering new provincial parks and trails in Ontario, Canada with our dog Toby.  We love hiking, biking, canoeing, rollerblading, skiing – if it’s an outdoor activity that involves discovering the beauties of nature you can basically guarantee that I am interested!  We are also huge Disney fans and go to Disney World almost every year. It’s such a magical place and we love the friendly service and vegan options.

Welcome to my blog!  I love making new online friends, so feel free to reach out to me at any time, and don’t forget to follow me over on YouTube!

Cheers,

Jennie from Habitat for Happiness
